As a teacher, I enjoyed this new version and I know that my students will too. Then, it finishes up with some tips for getting ready to read and ways to make reading more fun. At the end of the book are a spot the differences activity, pictures to use for a retelling activity, and some writing prompts to encourage children to think about things they need to do before they leave the house. ![]() ![]() The letter 'g' is in green throughout the text, drawing attention to how it is used in words. There is also a short lesson on phonics (letter 'g'), nouns, and the use of words in all capital letters. There is an introduction to the characters in the story and the high-frequency words that are in the book. I was pleased to see that there are additions to this version for before and after reading. As with the original version, I Have to Go! Early Reader is silly and entertaining. Seeing that there were early reader versions coming out made me excited to see how they were structured. I fell in love with the humorous stories and the fun illustrations. In my early teaching years, I was introduced to Robert Munsch books by a fellow teacher. ![]()
